Azam Football Club Trophies & Titles
Azam Football Club or Azam Fc is a Dar es Salaam-based Tanzanian football club. They compete in Tanzania’s Premier League. In 2008-09, Azam club was promoted to the Premier League for the first time in their brief existence, and they have remained in the top division ever since.
The club finished second behind Young Africans in the 2011-12 season and qualified for the 2013 CAF Confederation Cup. In 2013-14, Azam won the Tanzanian Premier League, earning 6 points ahead of second-place Young Africans SC. Azam Football Club fans had a fantastic Super Sunday when the club took a huge stride toward winning the Vodacom Premier title by defeating Mbeya City 2-1. The stadium roared when the referee sounded the final whistle. Azam F.c players celebrated on the field.
Azam Football Club won the 2015 CECAFA-Kagame Cup with a 2-0 triumph over Gor Mahia of Kenya in the final on Sunday at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Azam Fc took the lead in the 17th minute thanks to a goal from John Bocco. Kipre Cheche’s superb cross found Bocco, who tapped in from close range with Gor Mahia keeper Boniface Oluoch beat. Cheche sealed the victory on 76 minutes with a brilliant free-kick that left the Gor Mahia goalkeeper helpless.
In 2018, Azam FC defeated arch-rivals Simba SC 2-1 in an all-Tanzanian final to retain the regional CECAFA Kagame Club Championship title on Friday.
Azam Football Club took the lead in the first half at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, thanks to Shaban Iddi, but Simba newcomer Meddie Kagere equalized after the interval.
Azam, on the other hand, rallied swiftly and retook the lead six minutes later when skipper Aggrey Morris converted a free kick outside the area.
