For customers who need to connect electricity in the city within 30 meters for a one-way customer from the electrical infrastructure, it will be 320,960 sh, for a one-way customer within 70 meters of the electrical infrastructure, 515,618 sh distance within 120 meters of electrical infrastructure Sh.696,670.

In addition, the costs of connecting electricity in the city within 30 meters for a three-way customer from the electrical infrastructure Sh.912,014, for a three-way customer within 70 meters of the electrical infrastructure Sh.1,249,385, the three-way distance within 120 meters of electrical infrastructure Sh.1,639,156.

Tanzania’s Minister of Energy, January Makamba, has said that the actual cost of connecting electricity to homes for urban and rural residents is sh800,000.

“The actual costs of electricity and connection are the prices that are set by the Energy and Water Regulatory Authority (Ewura), therefore the Electricity Corporation of Tanzania (Tanesco) cannot charge a higher rate than that set by the relevant authority “, Said.

Minister Makamba has said that citizens need to realize that Tanesco incurs costs to buy cables, meters and poles.
