Teams compete in a total of 240 matches over the Botola Pro season 2022/2023, which runs from August to May. Each team plays every other team in the league twice—at home and away—for a total of 30.

16 teams compete for the title each year. The top two teams from Botola Elite 2 are elevated to Botola Pro in place of the bottom two teams, who are demoted to Botola Elite 2.
The African Champions League is open to the winner and runner-up. Participation in the African Confederation Cup is open to the third-place team and Coupe du Trône champion.
Since 2020, Inwi has been the official sponsor of the Botola for a 15 million dirham per year contract Botola Pro Morocco 2022/2023.
