BUL Defeats Vipers To Win 2021/22 Stanbic Uganda Cup

BUL FC has won the Stanbic Uganda Cup for the first time after defeating Vipers SC 3-1 in the final at Booma Grounds in Masindi or BUL Defeats Vipers To Win 2021/22 Stanbic Uganda Cup.

For the Alex Isabirye-coached team, striker Karim Ndugwa scored a hat trick, while Simon Peter Oketch added another. The Venoms got a consolation goal from Captain Halid Lwaliwa.

The Jinja based clinched their first ever major trophy with a 3-1 win over last season’s winners Vipers.

Ndugwa broke the deadlock in the 28th minute before Oketch doubled the lead three minutes to the halftime.

In the 53rd minute, Ndugwa made it 3-0 with a close-range tap-in off a well-placed pass by Oketch.

With a header in the 71st minute, Lwaliwa grabbed one back, but it was not enough to inspire a comeback.

Alex Isabirye has won the Uganda Cup three times, including the 2012 edition with URA FC and the 2013 edition with SC Victoria University.

BUL FC won Shs50 million in prize money, while Vipers came in second with Shs25 million.

With nine goals, Karim Ndugwa was voted top scorer, while Emmanuel Kalyowa and Walter Ochora were chosen best goalkeeper and defense, respectively.
