The Public Service Commission (PSC) has selected 477 candidates for the position of Principal Secretary in the government of President William Ruto. According to the commission, 9,154 people applied for the posts, which had their application deadline pushed out from September 20 to September 27.
The complete application list, shortlist, and interview dates will be published on the Public Service Commission website on Friday, according to PSC Corporate Communications officer Browne Kutswa.

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at the Public Service Commission. Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi from 12″ October 2022 at the times indicated on the Commission’s website. Candidates should be at the venue at least fifteen (15) minutes before the starting time.

- Current Clearances from the following bodies:
- Kenya Revenue Authority:
- Higher Education Loans Board;
- A Registered Credit Reference Bureau:
- Directorate of Criminal Investigations (Police Clearance Certificate);
Printed Online Self-declaration Application Acknowledgement Receipt or a Self-Declaration Form duly stamped by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission; and
Recommendation from relevant professional bodies and associations (where applicable).

The list of successful applicants would be sent to His Excellency the President for consideration for appointment as Principal Secretaries in conformity with the law, he said. “The Commission will conduct selection interviews at its main office in Nairobi,” he added.
As part of encouraging public participation in the hiring process, the Commission has additionally invited members of the public to send their opinions regarding the qualifications of the shortlisted candidates to lead state departments in the public service by email to [email protected] before the date of the interview.
Some of the important ministries, according to President Ruto’s government architecture, are Prime Cabinet Secretary under Cabinet Secretary candidate Musalia Mudavadi, which will require three PSs to be in charge of Internal Security and National Administration, Correctional Services, and Citizen Services.
Because it only has one PS, the Ministry of Defence, whose designated CS is Aden Duale, will have a single accounting officer. The National Treasury, which will be managed by Prof Njuguna Ndung’u, will have two PSs in charge of Finance and Economic Planning, while Foreign Affairs, which will be led by Alfred Mutua as CS, would have a PS for Foreign Affairs and another for Diaspora Affairs.
