Champions of the ABC Motsepe National Playoffs
The Champions of the ABC Motsepe National Playoffs are impressive MM Platinum. Gauteng’s MM Platinum won the 2022 ABC Motsepe National Championship on Sunday afternoon, defeating Limpopo’s Magesi FC 1-0 in a dramatic final at Olen Park Stadium in Potchefstroom.
Sipho Mahlangu’s lone goal in the 74th minute earned the Westbury-based team a massive R1, 25 million in prize money. In addition, MM Platinum has been promoted to the GladAfrica Championship.
Magesi FC went away with the R600 000 runners-up award and promotion to South African football’s second tier, despite the defeat being a tough pill to chew.

Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the creator of the ABC Motsepe league and the head of the Confederation of African Football, attended the final in Potchefstroom and promised a major change for the next season.
“In youth and development football, the key difficulty is resources. “We plan to increase the prize money to R3 million next season so that clubs can generate more young players and meet their demands to produce better football,” Dr Motsepe stated.
Nala Ngcobo of Spear of the Nation (EC) won the tournament’s top goal scorer title, while Lesego Sebetlela of MM Platinum was named player of the tournament.
Both players also earned R100 000 for their performances.
