The top division of Canadian soccer is played by Forge FC Players and Fixtured, a professional soccer team with its home base in Hamilton, Ontario. Tim Hortons Field is where the team plays their home games. One of the seven original clubs in the CPL, Forge FC debuted in the 2019 season.
The team won back-to-back league crowns in 2019 and 2020, capturing the league’s first two championships. With their qualification for the 2019 CONCACAF League and subsequent participation in the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League, Forge became the first CPL team to take part in a continental league. In the Canadian Championship’s final, Forge became the first team from the Canadian Premier League to do so in 2020.
To enable year-round activities, including soccer, the ownership group requested permission from Hamilton City Council to put a dome over the Tim Hortons Field playing field in February 2016. The team from Hamilton was declared to be the league’s flagship franchise when it was formally launched.
May 2017, when the Canadian Premier League was unanimously authorized, Hamilton was one of the two locations that the Canadian Soccer Association accepted for professional club participation Forge FC Players and Fixtured.
On July 12, 2018, Forge FC was formally introduced as the league’s sixth team. In addition to revealing its position in the league for the 2019 debut season, the team also unveiled its crest, colors, and branding. The name was selected to reflect the city’s history as an industrial center and its drive to achieve a better future on Forge FC Players and Fixtured.
