In defense, Deschamps seems to want to play in the defense of three. That means Kounde, Varane and Lucas Hernández could be starters. With the arrival of Lucas Hernandez in the back of the defense, there is a place for Varane and Koundé. In addition to being able to play three defenders at once, Deschamps can also use Varane as a midfielder.
