In Tanzania, electricity is managed and delivered by TANESCO, a parastatal corporation founded on the 26th of November 1931 by a Memorandum and Articles of Association that formed Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (the then Tanganyika Electric Supply Company Limited -TANESCO).

TANESCO launched a variety of electricity meters that display how much we utilize the service. When the meter reads 0 units, you must pay for the Token in order to recharge the power. If you don’t, you’ll have to spend your night in the dark, which most of us do. If you don’t know how to buy a Luku token, read our previous post >> Jinsi ya Kununua Luku. We’ll teach you how to enter the Luku token and replenish your electricity unit.
Follow the steps outlined below to recharge electricity
After receiving your Tanesco Token, enter the Token number into your Meter. You will need to hit the circle button once and enter the token number for some meters. As seen below, the token number is the 12 digits obtained from the SMS after payment.
After complete inut all the number press on the Enter Button or # button for some meter. There after your meter will show ACCEPT Meaning you have successfully recharge your electricity.
