He’s planning far ahead; if he wins the British championship in his first few fights, I have to give him credit, said Docherty.

“We are unsure about his future because he is not yet a professional. Even though he said that boxing is what it ultimately comes down to, it is a very different sport. Once more, I wish him well in all he does, and if we cross paths, then we cross paths. We’ll wait and see.”
Docherty is a young man. He is really a little younger than Whittaker, 24 years old. His 13-bout career, though, has already been turbulent. After a devastating 10-round points defeat against Jack Cullen in 2020, he has had to rebuild with three victories and a brand-new squad.
“It was challenging. I intended to stop boxing. I wasn’t planning on returning, to be honest. The way the altercation unfolded, “said Docherty. “I only got four weeks’ notice, which left me with little time to prepare.
“I don’t want to imply that Jack Cullen was an easy victory, just that I am confident that, on my best day, I could easily defeat him.
In his perspective, losing against Jack Cullen was a significant setback. Then they all dropped me. It hit me hard. I was alone. Everyone who was my sponsor went. Simply an awful night.
“It’s fortunate that it occurred so early in my career; I wouldn’t want it to occur later. Now that it’s happened, I’ve made the necessary adjustments and am prepared to enter conflicts and team up with well-known individuals.
