Mzumbe University dates back to 1953, when a Local Government School was created in the nation by the British Colonial Administration. The school had the purpose of educating the local councilors, native authority employees, and chiefs.
Following Tanzania’s (Tanganyika’s) independence, the training level was raised to include training for central government officials, rural development officers, and local court magistrates.

List of Selected Candidates Bachelor Programmes Mzumbe University The Institute of Development Management was created in 1972 when the University of Dar es Salaam’s Institute of Public Administration and the previous institution’s Local Government School combined (IDM-Mzumbe). IDM served as a higher education institution that trained qualified managers for both the public and commercial sectors.
List of Selected Candidates Bachelor Programmes Mzumbe University The government converted the Institute into a full-fledged public university due to the Institute’s natural expansion throughout the years of effective operation and the changing demands for human resources on a national and worldwide level. According to Act of Parliament No. 21 of 2001, this was done.
The Universities Act of Tanzania No. 7 of 2005 revoked the Mzumbe University Act No. 21 of 2001 in December 2006, and the Mzumbe University Charter, 2007, which presently governs the University’s management and activities, took its place. The Mzumbe University Charter, 2007, which outlines the University’s mandate, emphasizes training, research, publishing, and public service consulting.
