Malawi Junior Certification of Education Released

The Malawi National Tests Board-MANEB revealed the Malawi JCE Results 2022 Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) Examinations on Thursday, indicating that 112,897 students out of 154,495 who sat for the examinations passed, marking a 73.07 percent success rate.

Chikondano Mussa, the Secretary for Education, has stated that following the release of the 2022 Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) Examinations, all boarding school students are expected to report to school on Monday, October 17th, 2022, while day scholars are expected to report on Tuesday, October 18th, 2022.

Mussa further stated that the Ministry will use a merit-based selection mechanism to fill vacant seats in National, District Boarding, District Day, and Community Day Secondary Schools.

The Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), In conjunction with the Ministry of Education, has released the 2022 Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) Examination results.

For a candidate to pass the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) examinations he/she must obtain passes in at east six subjects including English.

1. A total of 159,964 candidates registered for the examinations, out of which 79,595 were females and 83,369 were males.
2. A total of 154,495 candidates sat for the examinations, out of which 77,484 were females and 77,011 were males.
3. Out of the 154,495 candidates who sot for the examination, 112,897 have passed. This represents 07% pass rate.
4. Out of the 77,484 female candidates who sat for this examination, 56,056 have passed. This represents 48.47%pass
5. Out of the 77,011 male candidates who sot for this examination. 59,841 have passed. This represents 77.70% pass rate.
6. Out of the 970 Special Needs Education (SNE) candidates who sat for this examination, 685 have passed. This represents 70.62% pass rate.
7. Out of the 43 SNE male candidates who sat for this examination 317 have passed. This represents 73.21% pass rate.
8. Out of the 537 SNE female candidates who sat for this examination, 368 have passed. This represents 68.53% pass rate.
9. Out of the 100,442 internal candidates who sot for the examination, 85,392 have passed. This represents 85.02% pass
10. Out of the 19,881 external candidates who sat for the examination, 10,952 have passed. This represents 55.09% puss
11. Out of the 34,172 ODL candidates who sat for the examination. 16,553 have passed. This represents 48.44% pass rate.

Malawi JCE Results 2022 Malawi Junior Certification of Education Performance Summary

The top Ten performing education districts in descending order ore: Pholombe (85.14%), Zomba urban (83.93%). Mulanje (82.76%), Ntchisi (81.26%), Zomba Rural (79.74%), Chiradzulu (76.82%). Mzuzu City (76.14%), Thyob (76.13%), Dedza (75.59%). Machinga (75.45%).

The bottom Ten (10) performing districts, in ascending order are: Nsanje (63.17%), Chikwowa (65.08%), Mzimba North (65.46%). Rumphi (67.77%). Lilongwe City (68.93%). Lilongwe East (69.21%). Ntcheu (6929%), Lilongwe West (69.56%), Nkhotakoto (69.68%). Mchinji (70.59%).

The performance of Education Divisions in descending order is as follows: Shire Highlands (79.65%), South East (76.54%). Central East (73.58%), South West (72.19%), North (72.12%), Central West (70.11%).

The lop eleven highest performing schools with 100% pass rote and a high percentage of candidates who scored As and Bs am, in descending order: St Ktito seminary (95%), Likuni boys (87%), Chominade Marianist Pvt (82%), Ludzi Girls (81%), Nonkhunda Seminary (81%), Loyola Jesuit (81%), Lilongwe Islamic (80%), Marist (79%). Chominade (76%), Mtendere (74%) and BakhitaPvt (74%).

The bottom eleven least performing schools with no candidates getting As and Bs in ascending order of pass rate are: Kachere Model (0%), Chigude CMS (27%), Junju COSS (29%), Chinthekwe CDSS (30 %), AmePvt (30%), Embangweni Secondary for the Deaf (32%). Mserero CDSS(33%), Maliya CDSS(33%), Tchale CDSS (36%), Mzuzu Prison Reformed (36%) and Chimwetsero CDSS(36%)

Checking Malawi JCE Results 2022

Candidates should access their results at the centers where they registered for the examination.

All candidates wishing to query their results should do so in writing through the heads of school where they registered for the MANEB will not consider any query about the results made directly to the Board by candidates or any other individual. All queries should reach MANEB by 14th November, 2022. After this dote no further queries will be considered.
