The Chief Executive of TPLB, Almas Kasongo said the league will start while the registration is ongoing as it is expected to be officially opened on July 30th and closed on August 30 this year on Mechi ya Ngao ya Jamii 2022/2023.
He said the Championship League itself will start on September 17 and end on May 13 next year, while the First League is expected to start on October 15 and end on April next year.

The Community Shield battle pits the Premier League champion against the winner of the FA Cup last season 2021/2022. But since the champion was Yanga who are the leaders of the Tanzania Premier League (Ligi kuu Tanzania Bara), the rule says that the team that took second place in the FA Cup will face its champion in the Ngao Ya Jamii game/Mechi ya Ngao ya Jamii 2022/2023.
