The Savannah Tigers’ supremacy throughout the season was also capped off with a state victory after the team overcame NPFL powerhouse Gombe United in the 2022 Gombe State FA Cup final to take home the state’s Aiteo FA Cup trophy.

Bendel Insurance: After being eliminated from the NPFL in 2019, Edo-based Bendel Insurance made a comeback after delaying their participation in Nigeria’s top club football for ten years.

The Insurance lads, who defeated Ikorodu United 2-0 to win first in Group B1 last month, officially announced their promotion on the sixth day of the 2021–2022 NNL season.

The state government rebuilt the club for improved success, and the two-time winners of the Nigerian league are now back in the NPFL. The 2022 Edo State FA Cup trophy was also won by the Benin Arsenal, adding to their ever-growing collection of hardware in the trophy cabinet.

El-Kanemi Warriors FC: After spending two seasons in the second level, El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri convincingly made their way back to the NPFL.

The Mighty Jets of Jos provided the two-time Nigerian FA Cup champions with a promotion ticket to the NPFL. On the penultimate day of play, the Jos-based team upset second-placed City FC of Abuja, who were just one point behind El-Kanemi, to assist the Borno-based team secure the Group A1 ticket.
