NBC Premier League also known as (Tanzania premier league) uses a relegation and promotion system like other leagues in various countries. The NBC Premier League has been running since 1973 and is currently sponsored by NBC Bank.
There are 16 teams that participate in this league with a total of 30 games played per season. The top two teams qualify for the championship playoffs while the bottom two teams are relegated to lower divisions. In order for the team to be able to participate in another season of this league, then the team has to do well so that it does not hold the fourth place in the league standings to avoid relegation.
But all in all, due to the nature of this league system, no matter how good all the teams are, there must be teams that will be relegated, no matter the number of points those teams have collected.
